La Casa del Suizo

Saliendo desde Quito, emprendimos un viaje hacia el oriente. Cinco horas de paisajes increíbles enmarcaron un recorrido inolvidable en la ruta Papallacta-Baeza-Tena-Puerto Napo hasta llegar a Punta Ahuano. El sol, como primer anfitrión, nos dio la bienvenida con un majestuoso atardecer de colores naranjas – habíamos llegado al paraíso. Amables guías nos trasladaron a nuestro destino, donde un buffet de manjares haría nuestro deleite esa noche.

El amanecer nos despertó sinfónico, verde y vibrante. La selva nos llamaba, nos invitaba a recorrerla, así que sin más espera nos adentramos en su inmensa espesura. El rio Napo nos sirvió de guía y a pocos minutos en canoa llegamos a un lugar en donde fuimos testigos de la gran labor que el Centro de Rescate Animal emprende, llevando de vuelta animales silvestres que han sido maltratados para protegerlos y reintegrarlos a sus hogares o manadas con la ayuda del Ministerio del Ambiente. Visitas a las comunidades cercanas para conocer su cultura y el trabajo conjunto con el lodge nos mostró como este sector ha crecido próspero gracias a emprendimientos como la Casa del Suizo, generando más de 45 empleos directos e incentivando la producción de alimentos que se usan cada día en la alta y exquisita cocina del lodge, enamorando a cientos de nacionales y extranjeros en busca de la magia de la Amazonía.

El majestuoso Napo estaba cubierto de neblina en el último día de nuestro viaje, siendo testigos de este único y especial momento desde nuestro balcón. Desde ahí pudimos vislumbrar los primeros rayos de sol sobre un cielo multicolor que nos dejó sin aliento. Las aguas mansas del río nos dieron la más dulce despedida, navegando de vuelta en silencio, contemplando uno más de los destinos paradisíacos y románticos de nuestro bello Ecuador. ¡Sin lugar a dudas, volveremos para celebrar nuestro aniversario de bodas!

La Casa del Suizo

Departing from Quito, we started out on a trip towards the eastern lowlands. Our 5-hour sojourn was highlighted by incredible landscapes on our Papallacta-Baeza-Tena-Puerto Napo route until reaching the end of the road at Punta Ahuano. Our first host was a majestic orange sunset – and we knew we had arrived to paradise. Amicable guides led the way to our lodge and a savory dinner buffet.

The following morning we were awaken by a vibrant green symphony. Sure enough, the jungle was calling us to explore, thus we decided to enter its domain of immense lushness. The Napo river served us as our guide and in just a few minutes, via dugout, we arrived to a place where we witnessed the wonderful work of the Animal Rescue Center, reintroducing wild animals that have been mistreated in order to protect and reintroduce them to their original habitats with the assistance of the Ministry of the Environment. Visits to the nearby communities to learn about their culture and the joint efforts with the lodge revealed to us how this sector had grown thanks to initiatives such as those of Casa del Suizo, generating more than 45 direct jobs and promoting the cultivation of produce that is used each day for the most exquisite dishes at the lodge, much to the enjoyment of countless national and foreign travelers that enjoy the magic of Amazonia.

The majestic Napo was covered in a unique fog on the last day of our trip, which we were able to witness right from our private balcony. From here we could see the first rays of sun over a multicolored sky that left us breathless. The serene waters of the river bid us the warmest farewell, navigating back in silence, while contemplating one of the most romantic and enchanting regions of our beautiful Ecuador. Without a doubt, we will return to celebrate our wedding anniversary!
